Platforming, Now in the Third Dimension!

Despite being a big Super Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie fan as a kid, I’m not overly one for 3D platformers these days. That said, This handful of experiences are enough to pique the interest of this lapsed fan, which is enough for me to want to highlight them to you, the obvious fan of 3D platformers! Why else would you click on this article otherwise?

The mere existence of the Anodyne games has me willing to check out literally anything from Analgesic Productions, and Sephonie uses that classic PS1 aesthetic to great effect. Explore a mysterious island as 3 young scientists using your incredibly fun acrobatic abilities.

The Spirit and the Mouse

A lovely game about a mouse that, while unfortunately dead, becomes a light spirit set on helping out the people of the town through light 3D platform puzzle solving.

Lunistice

Sonic Frontiers absolutely had it’s lunch eaten thanks to this incredible, inexpensive 3D platformer focused on speed and agility.

Solar Ash

This wonderful free flowing runner from Heart Machine might not be exactly like their beloved Hyper Light Drifter, but there’s undeniable connection between the mysterious, alien worlds centred in both games.
