E3 2017 Part 3: Nintendo | Other Stuff
E3 actually begins on the Tuesday after press conferences, but one other company decided to wait until the floor was open before dropping their bombshells. Here’s a roundup of everything else at the show.
Nintendo
Games shown
Rocket League, Arms, Splatoon 2, FIFA 18, Pokken DX, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Kirby, Pokemon for Switch, Metroid Prime 4, Yoshi, Fire Emblem Warriors, Skyrim, Breath of the Wild DLC, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Super Mario Odyssey, Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS), Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowsers Minions (3DS)
The Cliff Notes
Nintendo lowered expectations by having a 25 minute long Nintendo Spotlight followed by livestreams. Rocket League is including local wireless multiplayer. Nintendo have a specific focus on esports-but-not-esports with Rocket League, Arms, Splatoon 2, FIFA 18 and Pokken DX. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is anime as. Kirby and Yoshi are coming in 2018. Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon for Switch were only mentioned as in development and a ways off, but they were confirmed! 2 remakes for beloved games are coming to 3DS, which were announced during the livestream. 11 new amiibo were announced - 2x Metroid, 4x Zelda BOTW, 3x Mario, 2x Mario bad guys. Super Mario Odyssey was the star of the showing - his hat allows you to inhabit enemies, NPC’s and inanimate objects.
Takeaway
Ubisoft was in the lead, but Nintendo smashed it this E3. Confirming Pokemon and Metroid Prime for Switch is all they needed to do for now. The focus on multiplayer games is actually brilliant for a console you can take on the go, and all of those titles look so damn fun to play. Breath of the Wild DLC looks pretty amazing. Super Mario Odyssey looks bloody incredible.

Devolver Digital
Devolver Digital had a 15 minute “press conference” which insanely satirised the whole idea to the nth degree. You should go watch it if you are so inclined, but just beware it is NSFW and not for the queasy of stomach.
Playstation Pre-show
Games shown
Knack 2, Grand Turismo Sport, Matterfall, Everybody’s Golf, Superhot VR, Sparc VR, Tropico 6, Undertale, Ni No Kuni
The Cliff Notes
Sony’s PS pre-show arguably held more cool stuff than the main shindig. Bombs were dropped for the entire half hour, from Undertale’s upcoming console release to GT Sport getting confirmed for this year. Knack 2 is coming September 5th, while Ni No Kuni drops November 10th. Superhot VR is coming to PSVR soon. Matterfall set for August 10th looks pretty sweet. Tropico 6, coming 2018, shitted on Trump & Brexit, which was great.
Takeaway
Sony should have included a bunch of this in it’s actual conference. It might have given people a better impression of whats coming to PS4 this year, and made the lineup feel much more rounded.

Undertale, Ni No Kuni 2
